1981 - 1982
Francis Pym (b. 1922) entered the Commons in 1961 as a Conservative. He was Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in 1973-74, Secretary of State for defence in 1979-81, chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, paymaster general and Leader of the House of Commons in 1981, lord president of the council and Leader of the House of Commons in 1981-82, and foreign Secretary in 1982-83. He became a life peer in 1987 as Lord Pym. |
