  • Essential and long overdue legislation to enable commons to be locally and sustainably managed
  • Bill will establish a framework for self-regulating statutory commons associations
  • Will prohibit some of the worst abuses which can make effective management of common land impossible to achieve at present
  • Essential if government target on protecting most valuable habitats is to be met
  • Will deliver much-needed improvements to existing statutory commons registers

  • The Bill covers England and Wales
