SCHOOL TRANSPORT BILL
KEY BENEFITS
- Will allow up to 20 local education authorities in England and 6 in Wales to pilot local school travel schemes aimed at cutting car use on the school run and to meet other local needs (eg provision for after school clubs etc)
- LEAs will be able to charge pupils who are not on free school meals, provided money raised is reinvested in transport, and charges are affordable.
TERRITORIAL EXTENT
- The Bill extends to England and Wales
