ASYLUM AND IMMIGRATION BILL

KEY MEASURES

  • Removal of rights of appeal against refusal of entry or leave to enter for students and workers
  • Limiting rights of appeal for family visitors
  • Streamline after-entry rights of appeal
  • Civil penalties for employers of illegal workers
  • Offence of knowingly employing an illegal worker
  • Amend legislative framework for Refugee Integration Loans to reflect change in status
  • Ability for authorised third party to collect biometric data 
  • Wider power to enable more widespread fingerprinting, towards global roll-out in 2008
  • Verifying all biometric documents against a database at ports
  • Joint passenger data capture and sharing as part of e-borders
  • E-borders to include a small passenger charge to recover programme costs
  • More general charging for migration routes, to fit with points-based system

UK-wide legislation.
