2003

John Reid (b. 1947) was Labour MP for Motherwell North in 1987-97, and for Hamilton North and Bellshill since 1997. He was secretary of state for Scotland in 1999-2001, secretary of state for Northern Ireland in 2001-02, and leader of the House of Commons and president of the council in 2003. Following his period as Leader he held the posts of Secretary of State for Health and Defence. He is currently Secretary of State for the Home Department.
