SUGGESTED BILLS
Equality for people without children
Currently the law allows mothers to be absent from work on maternity leave for a considerable period and further time off may be considered for people with childen under 16 on an annual basis.
This excludes those members of Society who either cannot have children or choose not to have them but nevertheless are expected to pay for other people's life style choices.
Having less childen is surely the responsible thing to do in an over populated Society where consumer demand will grow and the environment and other species may suffer as a result.
All people in employment should be given the same equal opportunities to have time out from work whether it be to look after an elderly relative in a care situation, go on sabatical or when looking after animals.
There is far too much emphasis on families to the exclusion of other groups in our Society.
Noise reduction Bill
To legislate against the use of noisy equipment eg on Sundays when most people are trying to relax after a tiring week's work. This could take the form of noisy garden or construction equipment which is not only stressful but damages biodiversity when carried out in the breeding season for birds for eg; noisy hi-fi equipment especially in cars with windows open, noisy conversations on mobile phones - the list is endless. There should be restrictions on the use of noisy equipment as for eg in Germany where this works well.

Why should people be subjected to this type of stress to appease the freedoms of a few when the freedoms of the majority are potentially violated?
public safety
Increase the punishment for anyone caught in posession with a bladed article in a public place. This needs to be custody only. And a starting point of custody only. The country is rife with this sort of activity and really needes addressing at once.
Knife crime
My wife and I despair.
We see these UNLOVED youths joining gangs, using knives, wasting their lives.
There is little point sending knife offenders to see thier victims etc
Your and MY Government must
REINSTATE THE FAMILY AS THE BASIS OF OUR SOCIETY
Our own children, who are loved and protected, are Chartered professionals, because we have looked after them and protected them. Why does our Government NOT actively promote the Traditional family unit, as the best way of raising children?
Young girls need their mothers to guide and protect them; young boys need their father in situ!!!!! to guide, and love and protect them. If they do not get this, they seek companionship, and look after each other in gangs, and the problem goes on and on and on.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ask the PM, not to 'stick plasters' on society's problems, but to be brave enough to deal with the real problem.
The needs of society must outweigh the needs (or rights) of the individual.
Regards.
Housing Benefits Fair Deal for All.
That when a home owner is made redundant or made unemployed and is forced to seek Benefits including housing benefits, that Home Owners with a mortgage should not be penalized for being own home owner.
If you are in a Council/Private property, your rent is paid from day one. Not so private home mortgage payers, only the interest, is paid, then only after a 6mths wait.
Solution, full mogtgage housing cost to be paid from day one of unemployment, on the understanding that all monies paid out to be repaid on sale of the property or paid back at a reasonable fair rate, the mortgage payer to have the choice of repayment methods.
Public Transport
With the mish mash of public transport throughout the region I would like to see, at the very least, pulic transport( buses) made more accountable on how they manage the service. This would enable local authorities to have more say in how services are run.
compulsury working act
i believe that the youth today do not know the meaning of work, they find them selves in a situation it is far better to remain on benefits rather then find a job that would support them and allow benefits for those who need them, this bill i would ask would mean to place those; aged 18-21, unemployed, out of education, out of university, not in apprenticeship, and unable to provide for oneself, should be by law made to work in placement schemes, and training facilities providing vitals skills for their roles in the future. it may seem drastic but a pilot scheme would be an idea, to see that people can benefit from a kick rather then a reward, as a job is its own reward
Seperation Of Government and Religion
This country is a christian country, without doubt, and has been so for hundreds of years. Yet I still thought that MPs were meant to vote in the best interests of their Constituents, not according to their personal beliefs; especially with regard to medical research, abortion and taxation of religious organisations and bodies. As such I would like to propose that if an MP publicly states that he/she is against a bill due to moral or religious reasons, he/she should not be granted a vote.
Ethics and morality are two very different things. If a Bill is ethically wrong then it should be opposed, but if one person's religious beliefs conflict with the Bill, then any opposition they mount met with at least a degree of scepticism or at most, prohibition of a free vote.
Independent living bill
It is important for people with disabilities inparticular those of us with Physical and sesnsory impairments that we get an act of parliment to promote and protect our choice for an independent life. This is to support the upcoming individual budgets, which if we don't get a bill will just become as messy as direct payments, were those who shout loudest get better packages of care. We need this bill to be strong and to place us at the front of our support. At the moment things are very grey, this will give care managers strict rules and guidence. And reinforce the individual budget and service users becoming the manager of their own support packages. Without this I expect a lot of people to be let down by the process.
Transport Infrastructure (Funding) Bill
Aim: To achieve modal shift of transport from road to rail by significant public investment in strategic infrastructure.

Priority: Ports rail freight.

Justification:
a) Climate Change - significant step towards meeting carbon emissions reduction targets and business needs (Stern).

b) Road congestion - An aggregates freight train removes 120 HGV journeys from roads.

c) Harmful effects of air and noise pollution on human health. (COMEAP;WHO-CEHAPE;Gauderman et al)

d)Health impacts of traffic pollution cost £11.1bn each year.

Action required:
Moratorium on new road projects (DfT funding £10billion).

Evaluate scope for shifting mode from road to rail and switch funding accordingly (see A14).

Responsible Authority
I want to see local authorities carry out the legal duties they are supposed to carry out. I live in Ipswich where there is no definitive map of public rights of way even though this has been a requirement by law since 1981. Young people in my town are watching the LA and others gate and fence places they would like to continue using. This is being done unlawfully but because there is no DM it is difficult to do anything about it. Youngsters see the law being broken with impunity and worse still very casually and it is hardly surprising if they follow this extremely bad example. The standard reason given for this lack of action is a lack of money. A youngster could take this as a good example of why not to have insurance on a vehicle.
